PINOT NOIR FROM LANGUEDOC “It was interesting to taste a handful of Pinot Noirs (a grape which doesn’t seem quite in its element in this part of the world, although Calmel & Joseph are making a remarkably good one from their own domaine vines – see La Magdeleine below)” – says Tamlyn Currin, writing for JancisRobinson.com. “Sage and roasted plums and thyme. Stunning nose. Lots of chew through a very fragrant, complex palate. Tobacco, roasted raspberries, cumin, clove. Gorgeous. Spice dust, dried thyme dust, plums. Long and sinuously elegant and fresh. Beautiful wine with a refinement that’s surprising to find in a Languedoc Pinot.” And with a score of 17/20, we’re pretty happy about that.
