La Marquise
A shimmering gold wine illuminated with slightly green reflections. In this vintage the nose is brimming with white flowers, with additional notes of vanilla, almond and fresh herbs such as coriander and dill. The effect of oak ageing is subtle, offering nutty and spicy notes on the finish. The Grenache Gris gives the wine beautiful complexity with its citrus notes that accentuate the minerality in the mouth. Incisive, smooth and harmonious on the first palate, it develops aromas of exotic fruit, apricot, sweet almond and white peach. A polished white wine, with the purity and generosity that only altitude terroirs can give. As we have seen in previous vintages, it is a wine whose potential for ageing and organoleptic evolution is exceptional.

Sandy clay slopes with limestone and alluvial deposits.
The grapes for this wine come from the parcels of Roussanne and Grenache Gris on our estate in the Val de Dagne (at the foot of the Alaric mountain in the northern Corbières hills). We picked them by hand, sorting the best bunches on vines growing on the “tips” (the end of short rows) of our vineyard to use only the best of the most qualitative vines. The 2020 vintage was characterised by a very wet spring, followed by a fairly hot summer, with a dry autumn. These climatic conditions are excellent for producing high-quality white wines.
Vinification
The grapes are destemmed without crushing and then pressed. The must then settles by natural sedimentation after 48 hours. Fermentation is thermo-regulated at 16 degrees, lowering progressively until all the sugars have been transformed. The young wine is then racked into 228 litre barrels on its fine lees.
Ageing
10 months in two-year-old barrels.
